You might be wondering what this website is! Here's an FAQ of sorts.
Why does this website look the way it does?
This site was designed to echo sites of the past while using modern technology. I've tried to develop something that feels like it was made back in the day while bringing in some modern features (emoji/some newer CSS).
I believe that many websites these days have lost their charm in favour of being modern and full of all sorts of fancy JavaScript scripts, trackers, and nonsense. I remember waiting 5-6 seconds for a page to load and thinking that was an age. Now? That's just how long any modern website takes. What ever happened to having both speed and style?
Why use tables instead of grids or flexboxes?
Because that's what we used to do! These days on this kind of website they are really just a stylistic choice.
Why the weird images/gifs?
Again, because it's fun :D Many of them come from gifcities and are the kinds you might have seen plastered all over websites many years ago.
How was this website built?
Since I wanted to have at least some of the modern comforts in web dev, I used Eleventy as my tool for doing some basic templating. It's neat since I can write this page in markdown and inherit a template :)
